Summary The 'Newport Ship' is the remains of a medieval ship discovered on the banks of the River Usk in central Newport. The ship is believed to have been built circa 1465. Title HMS Conway HMS Conway.
Summary This is the website looking at the history of HMS Conway, which was a stationary schoolships for Britain's Mercantile Marine Service Association. The ship was based at Plas Newydd, the manor house of the Marquis of Anglesey, and remained on the Menai Strait after the war. In 1953 she was being towed to Liverpool for dry-docking but got stranded in the Menai Strait. The wreck of the Conway was burned in 1956. The website provides a history of the ship and its traditions and acts as a focal point for Conways who want to communicate with others. The website also provides details of famous conways who attended the school.

Summary The Seawatch Centre is in the small picturesque harbour village of Moelfre on the Isle of Anglesey. It is a reminder of the area's rich maritime history. You are able to climb aboard a real twentieth century lifeboat, experience the work of the RNLI crew, and learn about the area's wildlife. The coast is also famous for its shipwrecks including that of the Royal Charter in 1859 which claimed the lives of 495 people.

Title S.S Dakota Stoker, Terry.
Summary Transatlantic Passenger liner S.S.Dakota, of Liverpool, was outward-bound for New York in calm conditions when she ran onto the rocks near the port of Amlwch in 1877. Her crew of 109 and 218 passengers were all rescued safely by Bull-bay Lifeboat. Various salvage-attempts were made soon after the sinking but with little success at recovering the cargo. The wreck lay forgotten until the advent of scuba-diving in the late 60s, and as a result the Dakota's cargo became within reach. The website provides a short history of the sinking and of the cargo that has been recovered.

Title The Resurgam University of St Andrews.
Summary The Resurgam is the world's first practical powered submarine launched in 1879. It sank in 1880 off the north Wales coast at Rhyl and was finally discovered in 1995. The website provides a brief history of the submarine and the attempts made to discover it. It was created by the SubMap Project- archaeologists working on the project, under the direction of the British Government's Archaeological Diving Unit at St. Andrews University, Scotland. SubMap's aim is to move the submarine to a place of safety once the archaeological work has been completed.
